Jesse Trace placed second in the men’s 110 high hurdles with a personal-best 15.64 on Saturday in the WSC Track Finals at Bakersfield, leading eight SBCC qualifiers to the Southern Cal Prelims.
Aeryus Holloway was third in the triple jump (44-3 1/2) while Jonathon Worthge took fifth in the long jump (21-1 1/2) and Donald Morgansen (2:00.55) was sixth in the men’s 800. The top six finishers in each event advanced to the SoCal Prelims on Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College.
Paige Colijn took fourth in the women’s 5,000 in 18:55.26 and Carina Celio was sixth in the triple jump at 34 feet, 1/2 inch.
Two Vaqueros received at-large berths to the SoCal meet. Ossie Castorena was seventh in the men’s shot put (44-10 1/2) while Stephanie Potter placed seventh in the women’s discus (113-8).
Holloway, Colijn and Potter all recorded personal records.
“I thought we’d have four or five qualifiers,” said coach Scott Fickerson. “To have eight is great. We had a real good day.”
Moorpark won the men’s meet with 213 points while Glendale was the women’s champion at 182. SBCC’s men placed eighth and the women tied for 10th.
