Bill Grokenberger bested Beverly Hills’ No. 1 in an 8-6 tiebreaker on Tuesday, posting a crucial point for the Santa Barbara boys tennis team in a 11-7 non-league victory at Beverly Hills.
Grokenberger won three sets on the day as did the Dons’ No. 1 doubles team of Chase Melton and Evan Teufel, which won its sets 6-2, 6-2, 6-1.
Dan Diaz and Jim Vaughan took home two sets each in singles, but couldn’t beat Gary Parizher, who led Beverly Hills, the No. 1 team in Division III.
The Dons, now 11-3, have a busy week coming up. A home and away with Buena starts the week on Monday and Tuesday. Harvard-Westlake visits on Thursday before a select team heads to Ojai Invitational over the weekend.
