Visiting Buena made a move in the third round, but there was no way the Bulldogs were going to challenge boys tennis superpower Santa Barbara as the Dons prevailed 14-4.
“They’re crafty, and their singles players are pretty good,” said Santa Barbara coach Steve Geremia.
Each Bulldog singles player went 1-2 against the Dons, who spread their nine singles sets between six players.
Cooper Matheson continues to improve each match as he return from injury, according to Geremia, and young freshman Logan Liddell is showing the potential to be a truly dominant doubles player.
“He’s a quality player and can do a lot of stuff with the ball. We’re very high on him,” said the coach, who also noted the strong doubles performance of Jeremy Kirchhoff and Geoff Hahn.
The Dons (12-3, 5-0 Channel League) will be missing a handful of players for tomorrow’s match at Ventura as they prepare for the Ojai Invitational this weekend.
