The Dos Pueblos girls softball team took a 3-1 decision over Ventura on Wednesday, defeating the Cougars in a non-league matchup that completed the Righetti Tournament.
The victory improved the Chargers to 2-3 in the tourney and 7-9 overall. DP gets back to work in the Channel League on Friday against none other than the familiar Cougars.
Hannah Harris and Andria Castagnola combined to limit Ventura from the pitcher’s circle. The pair received great defensive support behind them, as Kristen Kolegraff, Jada Alexander and Karina Amoura all made plays that Chargers head coach Donn Roberts referred to as “ESPN moments.”
Alexander and Kolegraff also made noise on the offensive side, accounting for all three runs batted in. Alexander lifted a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning that scored Jordan Roberts and Kolegraff came through with a two-out, two RBI single in the sixth to give the Chargers a 3-0 lead.
Ventura posted a single run in the bottom half of the seventh, but it was a case of too little too late.
