Despite never partnering before, doubles players Andy Silverstein and Malcolm Sutton let up only three games in their three set match victory, contributing to the Chargers’ sweep of all eighteen sets over the Bulldogs in a 18-0 Channel League victory on Tuesday.
Silverstein and Sutton began their impressive win with a shaky start. After regrouping, the partners were able to completely shut out the Bulldogs for the remaining two sets.
Despite the seemingly unchallenged victory, head coach Liz Frech said the Chargers (12-2, 6-1) were tested by the Bulldogs (3-13, 0-7) in a couple of sets.
Partners Sean Simpson and Robert Laskin came close to losing a set, but prevailed in a tiebreaker over Michael Huang and Noah Killan.
Sean Handley faced Buena’s Kyle Tong in the second round. The last time they played each other, Handley lost to Tong 3-6. This time around, however, Handley defeated Tong 6-4.
DP travels to Calabasas on Monday.
