Cate netters dominate Earwigs, 15-3

Cate’s boys tennis team went a perfect 9-0 in doubles Wednesday en route to a 15-3 rout of the visiting Dunn Earwigs.

“This was a match where we knew we could try some different combinations, and it worked out pretty well,” said coach Bob Bonning.

The tandem of Connor Lemos and Gregory Mak played particularly well, according to Bonning, as did Mak’s older brother Geoffrey in singles.

The Rams (8-2, 4-0 Condor League) host Santa Ynez on Friday during their Parents Weekend, having beaten the Pirates 14-4 last week.

“When we played them it was very windy, so it’s hard to tell if maybe they’re better than that,” said Bonning. “We’re expecting a good match from them.”
