Dos Pueblos freshman Carson Curtis shared medalist honors with Ventura’s ben Shur at Glen Annie on Thursday, but didn’t share the team victory as the Chargers put together a 389 to best the Cougars’ 420.
Curtis birdied the 18th hole with an 8-foot putt to draw even with Shur, who had holed out from 40 yards on 17 to take a one-stroke lead. Both carded 75s.
DP head coach Rob Schiff considered it a very good score considering the wind, which gusted up to 30 mph and affected every shot, including the roll of putts.
Michael Yi finished with a near-medalist mark of 76 and Ryan Lynch and Tynan Daniels broke 80 with identical 78s.
The Chargers, now 7-3 and 2-3 in Channel League, broke a two-match losing streak with the win.
