Dalton Bowles dropped in a wedge shot from about 100 yards away for eagle on the first hole Wednesday as the Carpinteria boys golf team edged Bishop Diego 523-540 at Montecito Country Club. It was a continuation of Tuesday’s match which was suspended after nine holes due to rain.
Bowles and teammate Erik Price shared medalist honors by shooting 84, while Jun Huh led Bishop with a 92. Anthony Pell was one behind at 93 ford the Cardinals.
Warriors coach John Ward said that high winds made it a tough scoring day, but players like Joey Viro (110) continued to show improvement. Viro has shaved 20 strokes already this season.
Carp had lost to Bishop by 18 strokes the last time, and the even match-up has led to an attempt to set up a tie-breaking third match between the rivals before the end of the season.
