The Carpinteria softball team tucked away one final pre-season victory on Monday afternoon, eliminating visiting Channel Islands 10-1 before beginning Frontier League play next Tuesday against Villanova.
Current Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table female athlete of the week Nicole Pearce didn’t miss a beat after receiving her award at Monday’s luncheon for last week’s accomplishments, smacking a three-run home run in a five-run fourth inning.
Dani Mendoza also homered for the Warriors (4-2) and added an RBI triple that scored Carpinteria’s first run in the first inning. Catcher Katrina Hearinger reached base in 3-of-4 plate appearances and recorded an RBI.
Coco Crowfoot pitched a complete game while striking out six Raiders to earn her second win of the season.
