Young Danny Zandona turned in another standout performance for the Santa Barbara High baseball team in the Dons’ 8-3 win over visiting Pioneer Valley Thursday.
Zandona pitched six innings, giving up three runs, while going 3-for-4 at the plate and scoring a pair of runs.
“He doesn’t have all of his pitches yet, but he has the concept of getting ahead of the batter. He’ll give up the occassional extra-base hit but doesn’t let it hurt him,” said assistant coach Mike Cooney.
After going 4-for-4 against San Luis Obispo on Tuesday, Jack Crummer got hits in his first three at-bats on Tuesday before a fielder’s choice ended his consecutive hits streak at seven. Will Allison went 2-for-2 with a walk and a sacrifice at the leadoff spot.
The Dons (2-2) play Calabasas in the Chatsworth Tournament this weekend.
