The victory was a group effort for the Santa Barbara girls softball team on Wednesday, as every player got at least one hit and the team shut out Carpinteria, 10-0.
Mary Ann Giles got the ball rolling for the Dons after a triple in the second, starting off what would turn into a 9-run inning. She went 2-for-4 on the day and drove in a total of four runs.
Pitcher Rebecca Neilsen-Robbins had an excellent game, throwing for all five innings and keeping Carpinteria to two hits and no runs.
Also contributing to Santa Barbara’s domination was catcher Shiela Lopez with two runs and two RBI’s and Katie Rodman, who scored a run and knocked in another.
The Dons are now looking at an overall record of 2-1 for the season and will meet Nipomo on Saturday at 1 p.m.
