Even without its two best players, the Cate boys tennis team crushed the competition on Wednesday, taking out Dunn 15-3 in Santa Ynez.
Cam Seo swept his three sets for the Rams in dominating fashion, posting wins of 6-2, 6-0, 6-0.
“He just played gritty tennis all afternoon for three sets,” noted Rams head coach Bob Bonning, whose team evens its record at 1-1.
On the doubles side, the combinations of Rohit Goswamy-Gregory Mak, Connor Lemos-Mark Mullan and Blake Mackall-Austin Lokre won six sets with barely a blemish, winning 36-2 in total games. The Earwigs forfeited three doubles sets because they couldn’t field a full team.
Cate, just back from spring break, gets back to work on Friday with a home match against St. Bonaventure before taking on San Luis Obispo on Monday.
Wyatt Geiger and Max Sabel, who will be playing doubles together at next month’s Ojai Invitational, did not travel with the team.
