Lynch and Curtis duck under par in close DP win

Senior Ryan Lynch and freshman Carson Curtis each shot one-under 70 at Glen Annie Golf Course Thursday to lead Dos Pueblos to a 367-373 win over Rio Mesa.

Dos Pueblos was down by three strokes before the final group, which included Curtis and Lynch for the hosts, turned in their cards.

“It was just a really impressive high school golf match,” said Chargers coach Rob Schiff. “Ryan has been working very hard and taking his game really seriously over the past couple of years, and Carson has proved to be a very, very consistent player.”

Rio Mesa’s Jordan Cuthbert fired a 69 to take home medalist honors.

Schiff said that course conditions lent themselves to low scores, and it showed. The Chargers got 75s out of Alex Kim and Lane Fuller, while Sean Dishman fired a 77.

“I was really pleased with our effort,” said Schiff. “One of our biggest strengths this year is depth… I’m not even sure if this was our best lineup today.”
