Santa Barbara’s Shane Lebow sure made up for lost time on Monday afternoon, carding a 67 after starting off his round with consecutive bogeys in a 357-417 defeat of visiting Hart.
The 357 was the best showing for the Dons (4-1) thus far this season, just two-over par as a five-man team at par-71 Montecito Country Club.
Lebow finished his round with seven birdies after stumbling out of the starting gates. Ray Gerow, who posted a 3-under 68, sank two chip-ins for eagles on the front nine.
The Dons had a three-way tie at 74, with Mason Field, John Baur and Jack Perry reporting identical scores.
Field’s round was notable in that he hit 15-of-18 greens in regulation.
“I like the fact that we had some consistency,” said head coach James Bedard, whose Dons improve to 4-1 on the year. “Right now, I think everyone’s starting to feel more confident.”
Santa Barbara hosts Ventura on Thursday.
