Missing three starters, coach Bobby Sanchez didn’t know what to expect out of the youngsters on the Laguna Blanca boys volleyball team heading into Tuesday night’s match at St. Bonaventure.
“My sophomores are usually pretty sleepy guys, but they really stepped it up today and did great,” said Sanchez after the Owls swept the Seraphs 25-14, 25-22, 25-23 for their third win in a row.
Jack Segall had five kills, two digs and an ace while Ryan Ortiz had three kills, four digs and a pair of aces. Mitch Landers dished out 23 assists, and Julian Harake had eight kills with three stuff blocks.
The Owls (3-2, 3-0 Condor League) play at Hueneme on Thursday.
