With standout middle blocker Max Johnston out for three weeks with a torn rotator cuff, fellow captain and middle blocker Julian Harake took his cue and was “everywhere” for the Laguna Blanca boys volleyball team Wednesday, according to coach Bobby Sanchez.
Harake notched 16 kills and four blocks for the Owls, who defeated visiting Fillmore 25-17, 25-22, 20-25, 25-17 at Merovick Gym.
“It was a win, even though it was ugly at times,” said Sanchez, who picked up first victory at the helm in Hope Ranch.
Freddy Williamson added five crucial kills to go along with four digs and a pair of blocks for Laguna (1-2, 1-0 Condor League).
