Kiley Shas and the Cabrillo softball team neutralized Dos Pueblos on Thursday afternoon, shutting down the Chargers 2-0 in a non-league contest.
Behind Hannah Harris, the Chargers battled the Conquistadores to a 0-0 stalemate through six innings, but burped up two unearned runs in the top of the seventh to suffer the loss.
In her second start of the season, Harris pitched a complete game without allowing an earned run, striking out eight Cabrillo batters with no walks.
“We just couldn’t manufacture a run,” explained DP head coach Donn Roberts, whose team managed only five hits off of Shas.
Harris was also successful at the plate, reaching base in all three at-bats thanks to a single and two walks. Jordan Roberts went 1-for-3 with a walk.
Despite the loss, Roberts was happy with the competition.
“It’s a great learning experience for our young team, Cabrillo’s a great program,” he said, noting that the tough matchups continue with a first-round game against Div. 1’s Westlake this weekend at the Simi Valley Tournament.
