Garrick Vanderfin put away 19 kills as the Bishop Diego boys volleyball team opened the season with a 25-16, 25-23, 25-14 sweep of Laguna Blanca on Monday.
“I’m happy because I had an opportunity to see where we are at this point and what we can really work on,” said Cardinals coach Joe Reiken.
Ray Nowak added nine kills and Michael Schlesselman had 17 digs.
The Cards have a daunting weekend ahead, as they will play in the Redondo Union Tournament amongst a heap of Division-I teams. After that, they’ll host San Marcos on Tuesday.
