San Marcos’ Zach Belway recorded a top-10 finish in the 171-pound weight class at the State Wrestling Tournament this weekend, just missing out on a spot in the final eight.
Belway wraps up an impressive season with a 48-8 record a year removed from sitting out an entire season due to illness.
“I’m proud of his performance, he’s wrestled very well all year long,” said San Marcos head coach Tony Becerra, praising Belway’s work ethic and dedication.
The senior defeated Rancho Bernardo’s Jonathan Beck 3-1 before being stopped by Fountain Valley’s Anthony Duarte, the No. 4 wrestler in the state.
