Coach Alex Sheldon said that his team played good defense, but that the offense continued to struggle in San Marcos’ 9-1 softball loss to visiting Cabrillo on Monday.
“If we don’t hit it really doesn’t matter how good the defense is,” said Sheldon, who is hoping the bats come alive by the time Channel League play starts on Friday.
The Royals (1-3) host Santa Ynez on Wednesday.
