Carpinteria’s girls soccer team allowed Fillmore only four shots on Monday, but the Flashes converted two of them into goals. Thankfully for the Warriors, Ally Winn scored a pair in the first half to pick up a point with the 2-2 tie.
“We’ve had some trouble finding the back of the net, so we couldn;t win it in overtime even though we had lots of offense and they had maybe one shot in the second half,” said coach Lucy Carleton.
Winn scored in the 5-minute mark off of a header assist by Yadira Saldaña. Erin Harris then found the speedy Winn as she beat out a trap attempt, firing one in from 20 yards away at the 40 minute mark.
Carleton said that Lucero Cortes was on fire defensively in the second half, shutting down everything that came down her side. Freshman keeper Tanya Arroyo also had a heads-up game in front of the net, according to her coach.
