Westmont women’s basketball, ranked fifteenth in the NAIA, held the Hawks of San Diego Christian (4-15, 1-10 GSAC) to just 18 points in the first half on their way to a 69-41 Golden State Athletic Conference victory. With the win, the Warriors improve to 16-3 overall and 8-3 in conference play.
“I’m really excited about our defensive effort,” said Westmont head coach Kirsten Moore. “Offensively we were sparked by Amber Stevens who had a killer look in her eyes. She scored 13 points and had eight rebounds in 17 minutes. It was a balanced offensive attack in which everyone played, everybody had a rebound and all but one player scored.”
Katie Kittle also scored in double figures for the Warriors, scoring 11 points while making three of five from the beyond the arc.
Dorchella James led the Hawks with 14 points and seven rebounds.
In other Golden State Athletic Conference action, #2 Vanguard (18-2, 11-0) defeated #23 The Master’s (10-10, 5-6) by a score of 70-65 on the Mustang’s home court. #12 Point Loma Nazarene (16-4, 10-2) defeated Holy International (1-18, 0-11) by an 88-50 margin.
