Vladimir Vilsaint had ice running through his veins on Wednesday afternoon as he hit two free throws at the end of double overtime to boost the Rams over Dunn 71-70 for a season-ending Condor League victory.
Vilsaint also rescued the Rams from defeat in the first overtime, knocking down a bank-shot jumper at the buzzer to force the second extra period.
Vilsaint’s season high of 26 points was capped by his two game-winning free throws, which were possible thanks to great execution on an inbounds play following a 3-point play from Dunn.
Max Sabel tossed a length-of-the-court overhand pass to Vilsaint who got fouled in the act of shooting to make it to the line. Cate assistant coach Richard Pertsulakes credited Mark Mullan with making the play possible with an incredible back screen that freed up Vilsaint.
Randy Person pitched in 16 points for the Rams and Ugo Nwaske added 13 more. Sabel posted nine and Mackie Greason seven.
It was a great way for the Rams to go out, wrapping up their league season with a 3-8 record.
