Thacher turned the tables on the Cate girls basketball team on Wednesday, edging the Condor League rival 36-35 in the Rams’ gym.
It was payback for two earlier Cate wins, including a 38-36 thriller in the two schools’ previous meeting. Cate falls to 8-4 overall and 3-1 in league.
The Toads took a seven-point lead into the fourth quarter and had just enough to hold off the Rams’ rally that included a 3-pointer from Cascade Zak.
Maddie Firestone had team-highs of 14 points and 15 rebounds. Zak also reached double figures in scoring with 11.
The difference was at the free-throw line, where the Rams missed 17-of-19 attempts.
Cate has Laguna Blanca on its schedule next, Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
