The San Marcos girls water polo team increased its chances at gaining a postseason berth with a 10-6 Channel League victory at Buena on Thursday.
Zoe Kirker led the Royals on both ends, recording three goals, two assists and three steals. Jade Fitzgerald was top-scorer with four goals and Flo Chardon added two more and Parinda Sukavivatanachai one.
San Marcos won the game in the second and fourth quarters. The teams were deadlocked after the first quarter but the Royals made it to halftime enjoying a 6-3 advantage. In the fourth, the Bulldogs failed to score and San Marcos improved to 14-12 on the season as a result.
The Royals host Santa Barbara on Tuesday and Ventura on Thursday to close out the regular season.
