Tyson Rietz recorded a season-high six blocks, including two straight on the final two points of the match, leading SBCC to a 3-1 men’s volleyball victory at Grossmont. The scores were 26-30, 30-24, 30-24, 31-29.
The Vaqueros improved to 4-2 on their first stop of a four-match road trip.
“We were determined to come out on top,” said coach Melody Parker. “Grossmont is a good team and we trailed 29-28 in Game 4 before coming back to win.”
Rietz, a sophomore outside hitter, led SBCC with 20 kills. Mark Hebda added 17 putaways while Jim Wielebnicki had 13 digs.
“Justin (Conmy) set a great match, especially on the quick sets,” Parker added. “This is going to make the ride home a lot nicer.”
