Nicole Pearce scored 16 points and had a solid game on both ends of the court as the Carpinteria girls basketball team posted an easy 43-26 victory over Santa Paula at home Thursday.
Amanda Burch added 14 points and eight boards, while coach Dan Mercer said that junior Alex Steene — playin her first year of high school hoops — played another solid ame off the bench.
“She’s got some potential. We brought her along slowly and she could be a real difference-maker for us down the stretch,” said Mercer, who also said that the Warriors are playing their best ball of the season right now.
Carpinteria went on a 15-4 run to close out the third quarter to extend on a lead that was only 20-15 at one point. Up next is Grace Brethren, followed by Bishop Diego.
