A 12-minute flury of scoring accounted for all the offense in Saturday’s Condor League matchup between visiting Laguna Blanca and Thacher, and the Owls had the last laugh in a 2-1 victory.
The Bremner brothers were laughing the hardest as both Chris and Michael tallied goals for Laguna.
Michael struck first in the 24th minute, connecting on a Troy Ritter through-ball for the goal.
Thacher quickly responded with the equalizer four minutes later, but the Owls didn’t waste any time gaining the advantage back.
The Michael Bremner-Ritter connection was at it again, creating a golden scoring opportunity. But while the Toads’ keeper thwarted Michael, brother Chris was there to knock the game-winner home.
Although all of the scoring occurred in the first half, Laguna head coach Kevin Shertzer praised keeper Pascal Karam for diffusing several Thacher threats to preserve the lead.
The Owls (6-2-4, 4-1-3) now head into the final week of the regular season in second place in league. Their final two games are against first-place Dunn.
