Dos Pueblos’ Connor Dorais fell to top-ranked Patrick Martinez in the quarterfinals at the CIF Masters wrestling meet in Temecula on Friday, but sits a win away from placing and making the state tournament. His match is slated for around 11 a.m. Saturday morning.
CIF heavyweight champion Nick Wagner went 2-2 for the Chargers and was knocked out.
“Masters is tough. It’s a meat grinder,” said coach Anhony Califano. “”No one cares of you’re a CIF champ.”
It’s been a great season for Wagner, however, who joins Alex Mack and DP assistant coach Tom Crawford as the only heavyweights to win CIF in DP history.
