Connor Dorais – the Dos Pueblos wrestler that was sent to the hospital following an injury sustained in the 162-pound Channel League final last Saturday – has been named a league champion after a ruling reversal on Thursday.
A misinterpretation of the rule book led Saturday’s official to declare Ventura’s Issac Archibeque the winner over Dorais in the 162-pound final when Dorais was unable to continue after an illegal pin.
Dorais will now be seeded in the CIF individual tournament as the No. 1 seed from the Channel League and Archibeque No. 2.
That is, if he’s ready to perform. The senior is still awaiting clearance to compete in Individuals and will not wrestle this weekend with the Chargers at the team event. He sustained a strained neck and minor concussion in the match.
Dos Pueblos now holds five league champions this year and will have 12 athletes in total at the individual tournament on Feb 21.
