After an uneventful first half, Buena’s girls soccer busted out for three second-half goals to shut out visiting Santa Barbara 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
“We almost had a goal five minutes into the game,” coach Bryan Lloyd said. “Our girls played a good game we just didn’t get it in.”
Entering the second half at 0-0, the Bulldogs scored on a corner kick within minutes, and two more Bulldog goals quickly followed.
“We had a more than a couple chances in the second half but just couldn’t pull through,” said Lloyd, whose Dons fall to 4-2 in league and are holding on to second place with two games to play.
Lloyd praised Sierra Leighty, among others, for playing through tough injuries.
The final two games for the Dons are against crosstown rivals San Marcos on Thursday and Dos Pueblos next Tuesday.
