With four players out sick and four more injured, the odds were without a doubt against Santa Barbara High’s boys soccer team Tuesday. Emmanuel Angulo, however, was healthy and ready to fight as he managed to record his 16th shutout of the season in a 1-0 Channel League victory against Buena.
The Dons didn’t seem phased by the fallen players, even when they lost their 7th and 8th players to injury within the first 10 minutes of the match. Marcos Lopez picked the winning goal off a corner kick from Alex Santana in the 32nd minute.
“We didn’t change anything from our last game,” head coach Todd Heil said.
The Dons are now 20-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in league play.
Santa Barbara’s final two regular season games are rivalry matches starting this Thursday at San Marcos followed by the final game on February 10 home against Dos Pueblos.
