SBCC swept all six singles matches Tuesday in Woodland Hills on the way to an 8-1 season-opening WSC men’s tennis victory over L.A. Pierce.
Ryan Sweeney was extended to three sets before beating Paul Nguyen at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1. The other five Vaqueros all won in straight sets.
“We played pretty good for being on the road,” said SBCC coach Don Lowry. “We’re still a little green. It was good to get this one under our belt and give us some confidence for the Glendale match.”
SBCC plays host to Glendale, ranked No. 4 in the state, on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
