Taylor Hange and the rest of the Oaks Christian boys basketball team did a number on Carpinteria in a Tri-Valley League game Wednesday, defeating the Warriors 68-33.
Leading-scorer Hange had 17 points against the Warriors and put up three triples. McGrath had 12 while Bryan added 7 to the board with one 3-pointer.
It was Kevin Lusterio who stepped it up for Carpinteria, leading the team with 10 points. Manny Rodriguez managed seven points while still recovering from a severe case of strep throat.
“We had to sit him. We need him to get better for the playoffs,” explained Carpinteria coach John Ward.
Trevor Madden and Nathan Saito helped dent the score, each with a three and seven and three points, respectively.
“We played really hard, but we just couldn’t get the ball in the basket. We had quality shots, but just couldn’t get them to go down,” commented Ward. “I’m proud of the effort, it just came up short.”
The Warriors completed their regular season with a 4-6 record in league and 15-10 overall. The team hopes to make a better showing of its talent this Friday night at 8 p.m. against its very own Carpinteria alumni.
