Overtime failed to settle a close match between Bishop Diego and Grace Brethren’s girls soccer teams resulting in a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.
“We’ve been miserbale on the road,” said Bishop head coach Brent Gonsalves. “Grace Brethren was rested and we weren’t so I thought it went phenomenal under those conditions.”
Grace Brethren entered the second half with the upper hand, 1-0, but the Cardinals managed to even the score when Nicole Tetherow scored on an assist by Candace Melgoza.
“Overall it was a great game especially since last time we lost with only five seconds left in the game,” said Gonsalves.
Coach Gonsalves praised Paige Sleep and Kaila Hayes for their impressive defense.
Bishop Diego, with a Frontier League record of 3-5-1, will finish off the season in 4th place overall.
The Cardinals will host Malibu in Thursday’s finale.
