After a difficult loss to Fillmore last week, Carpinteria High’s Eduardo Contreras lifted his team’s spirits by scoring the only goal of the game in double overtime against Oak Park High. Thanks to an assist from Tony Alvarez, Contreras sank one into the net halfway into the second five-minute overtime.
“I’m just glad we battled back after Wednesday’s loss to Fillmore,” Coach Daniel Torres said. “They showed some character and some discipline.”
Torres also credited the Warrior’s defense on the win, specifically Arturo Alvarez. “He was phenomenal,” Torres said. “He definitely played his best game of the season.” The Warriors (10-4, 3-1) play Malibu next week at home.
