Wallace leads Carp to win over Santa Paula

Caitlin Wallace had 13 points, seven steals and six rebounds Tuesday to lead the Carpinteria girls basketball team to a 36-30 win at Santa Paula.

“We escaped with a victory,” said coach Dan Mercer. “We didn’t shoot well but we out-scrapped them in the fourth quarter.”

Santa Paula cut the lead to two at 30-28 with just a few minutes remaining before Wallace hit a trey the push the lead to five.

Nicole Pearce had seven points and seven boards while holding Santa Paula’s top scorer to just six points.

The Warriors (11-6, 2-1) play at Grace Brethren Thursday before Saturday’s rivalry matchup with Bishop Diego.
