Emily Whitaker played an all-around solid game, but losing standout Jenny Ann Martinez to injury early on was a big hit for the San Marcos girls soccer team in Thursday’s 3-0 loss to Ventura.
Martinez was hit in the face by a ball in the first half and suffered an injury to her eye socket.
As for finding other positives besides Whitaker’s play, coach Christy Lozano could think on only one:
“It didn’t rain.”
The Royals (4-9-2, 1-3) hope to bounce back against first-place Buena on Tuesday.
