The first-half blues hit the SBCC men’s basketball team again on Saturday night with the Vaqueros committing 22 first-half turnovers on the way to an 84-67 loss at Moorpark.
It was the third setback in four games for Santa Barbara (11-15, 3-3), which trailed 48-33 at intermission in its last game of the first round of WSC North play. The Vaqueros shot 47 percent but didn’t take as many shots as the Raiders (13-8, 3-2) due to 27 turnovers for the game.
“We didn’t take care of the ball,” said SBCC coach Morris Hodges. “We rushed things and we weren’t very poised.”
David Lane topped the Vaqueros with 15 points. Lucky Teeguarden had 13, Richard Somdah 10 and Ryan Gosselin eight.
Moorpark hit 9-of-26 from 3-point land and 17-20 from the free-throw line. The Vaqueros were 8-12 from the charity stripe.
After a bye on Wednesday, SBCC travels to Oxnard on Saturday for a 5 p.m. game.
