It wasn’t their best effort according to coach Gregg Luna, but the Laguna Blanca girls soccer team fought off a slow first half and a lack of sleep in Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Thacher.
A handful of Owls were up late, having arrived back from the presidential inauguration at 2 a.m.
“I’m not using that as an excuse, because Thacher came out rolling and the were the better team in the first half. And their goalie made four or five great saves,” said Luna.
Laguna got the equalizer in the second half, when captain Erin Stone scored on a play that went through Ari Rodriguez and Fiona Jessup.
Dunn pays a visit to Hope Ranch on Saturday at 2 p.m. with first place in the COndor League on the line.
