Junior captain Erin Stone set the tone for the Laguna Blanca girls soccer team on Saturday against Ojai Valley School, netting two first-half goals on the way to a 5-1 Owls non-league victory.
Freshmen Mackenzie Scarborough and Elise Scheurmann followed Stone’s lead in finding the back of the net. Scarborough made it 3-0 by halftime on a header off a cornerkick.
Scheurmann, who was called up to play on varsity, finished Ojai off in the second half by scoring two goals on chances created all by herself.
Laguna head coach Gregg Luna also mentioned junior defender Izzy Greer as being an important factor in keeping Ojai from threatening.
Next up for the Owls (10-2-1, 2-0-1) is a Condor League showdown with Cate on Wednesday. A win in that game would go a long ways in helping Laguna Blanca win the Condor League.
