Saldaña scores two in come-from-behind win

Carpinteria allowed a goal in the first five minutes, but stormed back thanks to some acrobatics in Wednesday’s 3-1 girls soccer win at Fillmore.

Yadira Saldaña used her head on a bouncing ball in the 22nd minute, putting it in to tie the score. Twenty-five minutes into the second half, Saldaña sent a header off the crossbar that bounced right back to her, and she headed it again for the score to give the Warriors the lead.Five minutes after that Maritza Torres put a cross in to Catherine Hough, who scored on a no-look shot with her back to the net.

“It looked pretty sweet,” said coach Lucy Carleton. “They just really picked it up in the second half and everything came together with passing and teamwork.”

The Warriors improved to 6-4-1 overall and 1-1 in the Frontier League.
