The Ventura girls basketball team was too hot to handle on Tuesday night for San Marcos, taking out the Royals 56-23 in a Channel League matchup.
The first-place Cougars (16-7, 4-0) held San Marcos (7-14, 1-3) scoreless in the first quarter and made it to halftime with a commanding 21-3 lead.
Jeannette Mendoza had a team-high seven points for the Royals, who next face Buena on Thursday.
