Manny Rodriguez scored a career-high 37 points against Malibu Friday night, bolstering Carpinteria to a 60-49 victory over the visiting Sharks.
Warriors head coach John Ward said Rodriguez, who also pulled down 14 rebounds, was a perfect example of a “dominant player.”
“He was consistent throughout the game,” Ward said. “They tried to stop him but they couldn’t. He played an outstanding game”
The Warriors maintained a lead throughout, with only one scare in the fourth quarter. The Sharks were able to close the gap to 3 points, but the Warriors were able to pull out further ahead and finish the game off.
The Warriors were also helped by Kevin Lusterio, who was 7-8 at the line and had 5 assists, and Justin Alvarado and Isacc Cervantes combined for 15 rebounds.
“Alvarado and Cervantes really helped us on the defensive end,” Ward said. “It was back and forth for a while, but luckily our supporting cast did a little bit better.”
The Warriors (14-7, 3-3) next face Santa Clara on Monday.
