Nordhoff’s Nicole Bergmann hurt the Bishop Diego girls basketball team on Saturday, scoring the Rangers’ final seven points in a tight 58-54 non-league decision that had the Cardinals in the lead with two minutes to go.
Bergmann burned the Cardinals for 13 in the fourth quarter and 22 total. She took over – scoring on a jump-shot, 3-pointer and a putback – after a Jennifer Jimenez 3-pointer gave Bishop Diego a 52-51 lead.
Bishop’s head coach Jeff Burich thrilled with the showing from point guard Ariel Perez, who recorded a season-high 14 points.
:She carried us in every quarter,” said Burich.
Jimenez added 12 points and Janelle Kohler had six and 14 rebounds. Junior Dalise Spence pulled down nine rebounds against the taller Rangers.
Bishop Diego (10-7) has a week to prepare for its next league game, Carpinteria on Saturday.
