Marquez drops in 28, Royals beat Rangers

Nick Marquez made six of his eight attempts from beyond the arc Tuesday, scoring 28 points and leading the San Marcos boys basketball team to a 67-53 home win against Nordhoff.

The senior had 16 points — including four treys and a dunk — in the third quarter. The Royals were 10-for-17 from long range on the night.

Josh Guild added 12 points and six rebounds, while Christian Rios scored nine and did a nice job of spacing the floor, according to coach Jarrod Bradley.

Next up for the Royals (11-8) is Friday’s big matchup against Santa Barbara.
