Laguna Blanca’s boys soccer team rolled up late and lost it early on Friday.
Battling rain and traffic, the Owls showed up 10 minutes before kickoff at Pasadena Poly, gave up a goal in the first minute and got stuck in a stalemate from that point forward in the 1-0 loss.
Seth Judson responded with a shot that seemed bound for glory until Poly’s goalie made a diving save to keep it out.
Laguna was battling the long drive as well as an artificial turf that the Owls are not used to. Pasadena Poly was also a fast and athletic team, according to coach Kevin Shertzer.
After a frustrating first half, the coach said the Owls re-grouped and dominated the second half.
“It was a perfect non-league game for us, despite the scoreline,” said Shertzer. “I was happy with the way we responded to a difficult situation and even though we lost, I felt we made progress tonight. It will hopefully set us up nicely for the remaining 5 league games that we have.”
