Louis Giroux made a final for the first time in his career Saturday, finishing second for San Marcos in the 160-pound class at the Arroyo Tournament. The team took 13th overall.
Jason Stevens was third in the 140-pound flight, while Zach Belway was second at 171, losing in the title match to a state-ranked reigning CIF champion. Luis Urbina continued his storng finishes in his first year of wrestling by taking fourth in the superheavyweight division.
Thursday is a big day for the Royals, as DP will invade the Thunderhut. San Marcos is the underdog heading in, but coach Tony Becerra isn’t ruling out the possibility of a victory.
“I think the kids are ready. If we put our best team out there I think we can match up with them,” he said.
