The UCSB women’s tennis team dominated Cal State Bakersfield Sunday afternoon at the Rob Gym courts, walking away with a 7-0 sweep.
The Gauchos’ No. 1 pair Michelle Murphy and Jill Damion outmatched Kirsty Jenkins and Kaydee Graham with an 8-2 result. Following suit with an 8-2 win was Bryanna Ojeda and Natalia Lozano, making quick work of the Roadrunners’ No. 2 position holders Sara Mijwell and Ashlee Thorneycroyt to clinch the doubles point, putting the Gauchos ahead 1-0.
UCSB continued its rally by sweeping all six singles matches. No. 1 seeded Murphy took out Jenkins 6-1, 6-3, as did Damion defeating Veronica Dimes 6-2, 6-3.
Sofia Novak and Asagi Onaga added to the tally, sealing the team’s first win of the year.
The Gauchos hope to continue its streak on Feb. 7 when they take on Big West rival UC Davis.
