Sarah Leads converted a second-half penalty kick to send the Santa Barbara girls soccer team to a 1-0 win at Ventura on Thursday, good for its fourth Channel League win in five tries after a winless preseason.
“It was our first shutout and we needed it,” pointed out Dons head coach Bryan Lloyd, who said the key was the defensive play from Kirsten Jurich, Kai Miller, Adrian Hill and Krista Jimenez.
Allie Cole was in goal to benefit from the solid back line and recorded the cleansheet.
